Yeah, streaming vids on dialup are a pain in the ass, I've heard. I've had cable since just before the big streaming-files boom, so it's never been an issue for me.
I'm all for open-source programs, and I am in love with the lack of codecs - it'll take a while for me to get over "fear-of-the-new syndrome," though.
